The Oscars Red Carpet: And the Winner is....

Well, the Oscar’s have come and gone, yet the red carpet roundup and discussions are here to stay. Let’s check out our favorite stars who got dolled up and strutted down the red carpet in gowns and dresses straight off the runway. After a year full of color, we saw switch back to basics with red, white, blue, black and a sprinkle of gold covering the carpet. Not only that, there truly was a vintage feel to many looks. Elegant, classic and bold are just a few words to describe this year’s Oscar’s red carpet.

Let’s dissect the colors of the night shall we. Ladies like Naomie Harris, Chrissy Teigen, Karlie Kloss, Sofia Carson and Auli’i Cravalho made white one of the biggest color trends of the evening. Then, last year’s winners Brie Larson and Alicia Vikander, along with Kirsten Dunst, Janelle Monae, Cynthia Erivo and Kate McKinnon walked the carpet in classic black. Oscar winner Viola Davis led the charge in red with Ruth Negga and Ginnifer Goodwin following behind. Not to be ignored, Dwayne Johnson, Riz Ahmed and Chris Evans rocked blue suits and Taraji P Henson and Laura Dern amazed in their navy blue gowns. Last but certainly not least Oscar winner Emma Stone, Jessica Biel and Dakota Johnson all sported a gold gown, reminding us of a certain little statue Miss Emma took home that night.

A few of our ladies even mixed some of the night’s biggest trends. Chrissy’s white Zuhair Murad dress was embellished with gold and silver beading, while Janelle’s black Ellie Saab Couture ball gown was covered in gold and white embellishments. As for those vintage moments, well Brie was glamourous in a black Oscar De La Renta turn-of-the-century style gown, Kirsten wowed in a 50’s style Dior dress and Emma stunned in her custom Givenchy Haute Couture 20’s inspired gown. Talk about red carpet moments.

Pink and Yellow

Whether its Spring or Fall pink and yellow are having a moment.

Let’s take a moment and go back in time to fall 2016 fashion week and the start of pinks and yellows. Yes, yes, both colors have been staples of spring and summer for decades now but that all changed last year. Pink and yellow alone and pink and yellow as a combo hit it big and shows no signs of stopping. Bold and bright pinks and yellows will continue on this year so you’d better get yourself covered and add a pink or yellow blouse, skirt or dress to your wardrobe. Especially pinks, which seem to have overtaken Pantone’s choice of green for the color of 2017. Pink is everywhere and in every shade, so if you are to stay on trend, hop to it!

Tapestry Prints

Ever wanted to wear a wallpaper print? Well now is your chance. Tapastry prints are IN!

We’ve seen florals, geometric, stripes and other prints and patterns before. But now fashion and upholstery collided to give us tapestry prints; a more in depth print, akin to wallpaper, bedspreads or couch covers. The red carpet, runways and of course stores are filled with these prints in blouses, skirts, dresses and gowns. Now is your chance to wear that bedspread you’ve been admiring! We joke but after viewing the awesomeness above we are ready to fill our closet with some bold tapestry style prints, join us won’t you.
