Primetime Emmy Awards Red Carpet: A Carpet of Many Colors

The sun was shining on a hot Sunday in September when the stars of our favorite television shows gathered to celebrate their craft. The red carpet was a rainbow affair of colors, skin and florals, making us wonder if summer would ever end.

Color was the theme for the red carpets in 2016 and the ladies of TV didn’t disappoint with reds, blues, pinks, yellows and metallics all representing. Taraji P Henson, Minnie Driver, Ellie Kemper, Mandy Moore and the ever fabulous Angela Bassett rocked varies shades of yellow. Reds had their moment with the likes of Priyanka Chopra, Tatiana Moslany, Connie Britton and winners Kate Mckinnon and Regina King. Then there was Viola Davis, getting away with sporting pink alongside UnReal’s Constance Zimmer whose white with bright pink embellishments was a stand-out. Winners Sarah Paulson, Tina Fey and Amy Phoehler brought their A-game with three different green hues. Light to navy blue was scattered across the carpet worn by Shiri Appleby, Jane Krakowski, Abigail Spencer and America Ferrera. Sure there were some all-white looks, solid and sheer blacks but wearing a vibrant color while walking the carpet was the biggest trend of the night.

It came as no surprise that showing skin was a big trend on the red carpet with heat reigning supreme. The ladies had to find ways to stay cool under all that fabric! Actresses like Kerry Washington, Heidi Klum, Tracee Ellis Ross, Minnie Driver and Shiri Appleby sported cut-outs. While Robin Wright, Taraji P Henson and Jane Krakowski donned dresses with high slits and Keri Russell, Padma Lakshmi and Lindsey Vonn went with backless gowns.

Vibrant colors and showing skin were not the only trends of the night. We saw a smattering of floral patterns from Kristen Bell, Constance Zimmer, Felicity Huffman, Sarah Hyland and Maisie Williams. Not to mention, beaded and sequined embellishments, ruffles and a few stars even donned velvet. Many ladies sported bombshell waves and to match the colorful frocks intense, bright eyeshadow and pink and red lipstick shades.
