The Golden Globes

Once again the men and women of TV prove they are just as glamourous as movie stars.

TV Glam: The Golden Globes

Well, it’s almost that time of year again….awards season. So, let’s go back in time to January 2017, hit refresh and remind ourselves of the fabulousness that was the Golden Globes red carpet.

Romanticism, sequins/metallics and bright colors took center stage, making for a fun, glamourous and elegant affair. The romantic influences on display were lots of ruffles, tulle and floral patterns. On theme with romantic thinking, pink was THE color of the night, with Emma Stone, Zoe Saldana, Carrie Underwood, Angela Bassett, Gwendoline Christie, Lily Collins, Naomi Campbell, Annette Bening, Claire Foy, Connie Britton, Felicity Jones, Nicole Yvette Brown and Ryan Michelle Bathe all picking the rosy hue. Meanwhile the many shades of yellow had a strong showing on the likes of winner Viola Davis, Natalie Portman, Maisie Williams, Emily Ratajkowski and Reese Witherspoon.

We did notice many chose the classic black or white gown but what fun is that when others stunned in shiny metallics, complete with sequin details or an allover sequined frock. Ruth Negga, Chrissy Teigen, Kristen Bell, Drew Barrymore, Tracee Ellis Ross, Felicity Huffman, Gal Gadot, Susan Kelchi Watson, Judith Light, Kerry Washington, Naomie Harris, Amy Adams, Nicole Kidman, Priyanka Chopra, Regina King, Sarah Paulson and Thandie Newton all rocked gold, silver and black sequins. And we have to point out that quite a few of those pink ladies wore allover sequined gowns themselves.

Green with Envy!

Green, the color of nature but also a favorite of fashionistas everywhere.

Dark green, chartreuse, sage, mint, olive, army, seafoam, shamrock, moss, basil, emerald, pale, pine, pear, lime, fern, seaweed, crocodile, parakeet, pistachio, juniper, jungle, light green, sap and myrtle are just some shades of nature’s neutral, Greenery. Or as some know it, Pantone’s color of 2017. While other colors have seemed to eclipse green as THE color this year we still want to honor the hue and its many incarnations.

One can combine green with neutrals, pastels, brights, deeper shades and metallics. Many of our favorite fashionistas are rocking the color at movie premiere’s, award shows, galas or just out on the town. Get thee to a store and stock up, the end of the year will be here before you know it!

Cold Shoulders

Bare shoulders are the trendiest body part to show off while out on the town.

We’ve said goodbye to side cut-outs and a big, fat hello to the cold-shoulder. From the runways to the red carpet to department stores, off-the-shoulder, shoulder cut-outs, exposed shoulder or single shoulders are continuing to be a trend throughout 2017. Sure, wearing an off-the-shoulder dress, gown or top has been popular in the past few decades thanks to fashionistas like Brigitte Bardot, Jane Birkin and Bianca Jagger. But this year a resurgence of the silhouette is in full bloom and we are inundated with a shoulder cut-out or off-the-shoulder attire.
