South by Southwest: SXSW: Celeb Edition

Festivals are known for their cool, carefree vibe and South by Southwest Music, Film and Interactive Festival and Conference is no exception. The fashions we see from performers and attendees alike tend to match those vibes. Celebrities who showed up left their fancy garb at home and were seen sporting leather jackets, jeans, tees, sweaters, sheaths and funky dresses. They showed up to not only perform, participate in panels/presentations and give keynote speeches but to enjoy their surroundings and take in a show or two.

The first ever SXSW Music Conference and Festival started in 1987 in Austin, Texas encountering immediate success and only gaining in popularity over the past 27 years. By 1994, the Film and Interactive components were added, making it the festival it is today. During the day a festival goer has their choice of panels, talks, Trade Show, Music Gear EXPO, workshops and interviews. The nightlife is filled with a variety of musical performances by countless musicians. Don’t worry, fashion is not ignored at this high profile festival. Style X, the fashion component of SXSW, continues to have ongoing presence, with more attending from the fashion industry this year than ever before. Retailers, designers, media professionals and start-ups came together for meet-ups, featured speakers, mentorships and panels. Neiman Marcus and Decoded Fashion (the world’s leading supporter of fashion technology) hosted these events.
