Ball Gowns A Plenty!

Stunning gowns, tails, top hats and tuxes were on display at one of fashion’s biggest nights!

The MET Gala: Ball Gowns A Plenty!

Just because we loved the looks oh so much, let's go back in time and remind ourselves of last year's epic MET Gala. The Charles James: Beyond Fashion exhibit was the dress code, making it the most formal one yet. Made famous for his lavish detailed draping and voluminous ball gowns, James’ designs exuded glamour. The “Great American Courtier’s” designs are the perfect inspiration for an event as extravagant as the MET Gala.

Gorgeous, enchanting, stunning and fun are just a few words to describe the fashions seen. Floor sweeping ball gowns reigned supreme but we did catch a few ladies discarding the theme by sporting sleek silhouettes and mini dresses. They didn’t skimp on hair, make-up, and accessories either. We saw elegant updos, bold braids, polished waves, high impact lips in red and burgundy and decorative headpieces like Lupita Nyong’O rocking a headband and Beyonce tackling netting.

The stand out of the night, however was shockingly enough designer Zac Posen, dressing seven of the women in attendance. Posen’s aesthetic is very similar to Charles James’, so it is no wonder Maggie Q, Sarah Silverman, Liu Wen, Karen Elson and Arizona Muse all graced the red carpet in the infamous voluminous ball gowns. Straying from the others but sticking with the ample fabric dictum, Dita Von Teese and Alicia Quarles opted for the mermaid silhouette and looked spectacular.

Fendi

Fendi Fashions We Love

Fendi has been creating beautiful designs since they opened their doors in 1925 in the fabulous city of Rome, Italy.

Fashion would not be the same if the Fendi family had never created the wonderful handbags that would eventually become famous. Origninally Fendi began as a small leathergoods and luggage shop with a tiny fur workshop in the back. The five daughters of the Fendi family later bring in a then up-and-coming designer, Karl Lagerfeld and the company is on its way to becoming the iconic fashion house it is today. Lagerfeld was brought into the company to revamp the furs and make them lightweight and wearable for any time of day or night. He was actually the person would coined the term "Fun Fur" which became the famous double "F" of the Fendi line which adorns most of the handbags and luggage to date. Fendi is one of the world's most coveted brands, making fashion, accessories and shoes.

Sci-Fi Fashion

Fashion that is far out of the galaxy but still inspiring are these out of this world looks!

Sci-Fi fashions have been gracing the runways of late. Although you may not find them practical for everyday wear, some pieces have aspects that can translate to more wearable fashion. You may not totally go for the full structured look of some of these creations, but you could find a nice jacket with futuristic sculpted shoulder or sleeve. We hope that these inspire you in some way or just encourage you to enjoy viewing something different.
