Since last fall and through Spring 2019 polka dots will have made their way from the runways to our closets. Not that the print has ever gone out of style, it has just reached new heights this time around. The black and white combination is still the most popular yet polka dots can be found in many different colors and combos as you can see on the celebrities and fashionistas above.

Polka dots first became a hit back in 1926 when Miss America was spotted in a dotted bikini. A couple years later, the iconic Minnie Mouse was created wearing red and white polka dots. Stores were then filled with polka dotted dresses. By the fifties, Christian Dior had added the print to his hourglasses dresses in the infamous “New Look” collection, making the polka dot a more highbrow print.
