Venice, Italy

E
ach day of the year, a mega amount of people are drawn to Venice and its relics. The historic monuments and churches experience the largest crowds in today’s Venice but the city's center and its dramatics once controlled the commodities trade and were the living and thriving metropolis of Europe.

Venice itself was founded fifteen hundred years ago on a cluster of mudflats in the centre of the lagoon. In time, Venice rose to become Europe's main trading post between the West and the East, and at its height controlled an empire that spread north to the Dolomites and over the sea as far as Cyprus. As its wealth increased and its population grew, the fabric of the city grew ever denser and Venice continued to be a growing force in Europe. There are hundreds of islets that compose historic Venice and there is not a piece of this puzzling city of grandeur that is, was or will every become insignificant.

The shopping in today's Venice is fun, expensive and filled with the unexpected. MyCloset.com found that late afternoon is the best time to venture towards the fashion shops and bazaars. Surprisingly sprawled throughout the city are world renowned major designer boutiques. Also spotted in these boutiques were fabulous couture garments that one would have to special order in other cities. There are many wonderful locally designed clothing and lace boutiques and even boutiques with major one-of-a-kind hand crafted apparel, looks and foot coverings. Like the traditional handmade crafts, glass and masks, these apparel items are more than likely purchased in Venice by vacationers and showcased, worn and adorned elsewhere.

You could probably see most of Venice in a day, but the real charm of the city is taking your time and enjoying the little things that make Venice unique. The eclectic feeling that Venice gives you comes directly from the tourist or vacationers. Everyone brings their own sense of style, taste and direction towards fashion. The locals seem to stand out in the way that they walk and dress. They seem to have a jovial, calming but slightly colorful fabric palette. We found that the locals blend in with the magnificently blown glass of Venice-Strong, colorful, unpredictable, and bright but also warm and inviting. Lots of interesting combinations that you would not necessarily place together if you knew better!

At the end of the day, Venice is never boring. When site seeing gets tedious, there is always the inexhaustible experience of relaxing in a square and viewing the tourists voyaging the canals and streets of the city. Long live Venice and the people that visit!
