2013 TRENDS: NEON Makes a Come Back!
CLOSET INSPIRATIONSfeaturingThe Blouse & Pencil SkirtWhether you want to dress up for work or for a night out on the town the pencil skirt and blouse are must have items. |
Much like the little black dress, every fashionista should own at least one pecil skirt and blouse. The slim fitting skirt has been worn by women all around the world since the late 1940s. It continues to be a wardrobe essential thanks to its different lengths (long, 3/4, knee, short) and sexy yet dressed up potential. A fashionista can pull on a pencil skirt and blazer and set off to the office, looking polished and professional. By five o'clock she can remove her blazer, showcase her fashion blouse and head out for cocktails or to a club looking both stylish and hot. Over the years blouses have come in many different styles; button up, fashion, cotton, silk/satin, collared, sleeveless, off the shoulder, peasant and pirate. Not to mention the various sleeves (puff, long, short, 3/4, bell, balloon) and collars (peter pan, mandarin, Elizabethan, sailor, butterfly, Johnny) a woman can choose from. While either wardrobe piece can be worn on its own, we at MyCloset know that putting the pencil skirt and blouse together is and always will be a classic combination that attracts fashionistas of all ages.
CLOSET INSPIRATIONSfeaturingForever Denim!Denim is here to stay. This versatile fabric is the best invention next to sliced bread. Always changing, denim is never boring! |
Though initially created as a durable fabric in the eighteeth century, denim has evolved from function to high fashion. Other than the obvious use for making jeans, denim can be used to create jackets, dresses, vests, skirts, hats, shorts, shoes and even handbags. The original deep dark indigo color has been stonewashed, acid washed, and distressed to completely dyed. Once tough and durable, denim has been updated in light-weight and stretch versions to accommodate almost any shape and form. No wonder denim has never gone out of style! Peruse the Emerging Designers to see how some use denim in high fashion.
