Many believe that Azzedine is guaranteed a place in the design hall of frame. He challenges the boundaries of flesh and fabric, which creates his signature second skin. Growing up, Azzedine lied about his age to get into the local Ecole des Beaux-Arts to study sculpture. This particular skill he didn’t excel in but does become very useful in later years. After learning how to sew from his sister, he found that he had a knack for duplicating couture dresses which he would make for the women in town. His journey took him to work in Paris for Christian Dior, but only managed five days of sewing labels before being fired. Moving to Guy Laroche, Azzedine spent time refining his craft while earning money as a housekeeper and dressmaker. His first collection for Charles Jourdan in the 1970’s wasn’t well received but later fashion editors would come to admire his modern elegant style. Finally Azzedine received worldwide success along with many fashion awards that praised his design in modern elegance. In 2000, he joined forces with the Prada group. In that same yearAzzedine proved his status as a major influence in the fashion world by showcasing a solo exhibition at the New York Guggenheim.
