Luly Yang
"I have a love affair with color. I can’t live without it. "
Known as the ‘Vera Wang of the West Coast’ renowned bridal designer Luly Yang was born into a family of artists, designers, engineers and architects. Originally from Taiwan, Yang and her family relocated to Bellevue, Washington when she was ten years old.
With a graphic design degree from the University of Washington Luly Yang worked as both a fitness instructor and architect before turning her true passion into a career. In 2000, Luly Yang established her design studio, ‘Luly Yang Couture’. After her first year of business, she found herself designing couture and ready-to-wear evening gowns and cocktail dresses. In no time at all she became a local and national sensation; celebrities such as Vanessa Minillo, Josie Bissett and Mary Hart have requested original Luly Yang gowns.
In 2006, Yang again expanded her collection with the line ‘LulyWed’, an assortment of honeymoon, resort, lingerie and foot wear, as well as spa products and wedding accessories. In 2007, Yang was honored with the prestigious Nellie Cashman Women Business Owner of the year award for her achievement in running a highly successful and profitable business. And in 2008, Yang opened the doors to a second boutique at the Fairmont Hotel in Beijing, China. In 2009, she also unveiled ‘The Seattle Library’, in her Seattle boutique which is dedicated to men's fashions, accessories and custom suiting and shirting, which is quickly becoming a crowd pleaser amongst MyCloset’s male members.
Life Facts:
Luly Yang has been voted Best Dress Designer (five years in a row), Best Dress Boutique and Best Bridal Accessories by Seattle Bride Magazine. In 2007, Yang’s gowns were displayed during the Seattle Art Museum’s reopening. and she has teamed with Camp Korey, located in Carnation, WA as her charity of choice. Her hope is to use fashion as a tool to bring awareness to her community.
