Pierre Carrilero
"My whole life cannot be in one sweater, but there are hints of my present, future and past in every garment, season after season."
Born and raised in Lyon, France knitwear designer Pierre Carrilero was taught to knit by his mother after a soccer injury left him bedridden for a month. In 1996, he relocated to New York City, where he found jobs as a model, actor, musician and nanny before designing for fellow knitwear designer Miguel Androver. In 1999, Carrilero successfully presented his designs at the Gen Art showcase for young designers. A couple years later, in 2001 Carrilero established the knitwear label ‘Pierrot’ with an unveiling at fall fashion week. His delicate pointelle skirts, bulky cable knit sweaters, crocheted mini dresses and accessories were an instant success and immediately began selling at high end boutiques and department stores like Barney’s and Bloomingdale’s.
Pierre Carrilero continually reinvents the standards of fashion with his knitwear. One year Pierre surprised the industry by bringing back the sweater dress and the next year, he changed the favored shape of the cardigan-the industry loved it! His clientele is vast and ranges from the Mid-western housewife to celebrities such as Laura Dern, Kim Basinger and Sarah Jessica Parker who donned his knitwear for the popular TV show, “Sex and the City”, a mycloset.com favorite!
