EMERGING DESIGNER

Suzanne Jaberg

Suzanne Jaberg on Fashion

What has been your biggest fashion faux-pas?
My mom permed my bangs in grade 7. It looked like an afro headband.
If you could only shop at one store, which would it be?
Le Train Bleu, or maybe Polite Society.
If you could change one thing about your closet, what would it be?
I'd like to have a giant second separate closet just for outerwear. I can't get enough coats. Perhaps it was the blustery Canadian winters growing up.
Survival of the fittest: What is one item in your closet that you will never get rid of?
Perfect fitting dress pants. I have a pair that I bought in Paris years ago. They're worn out but I'm keeping them because I want to copy the pattern and make 10 pairs in different fabrics.
If you were given the opportunity to have a famous designer revamp your entire wardrobe, who would you choose?
Martin Grant.
Name an actor/singer/celebrity whose wardrobe you admire the most.
I'm probably not supposed to admit this but I don't really follow celebrities. I have no idea.
What are your best and worst fashion purchases?
The best would have to be a pair of tall suede boots with brass buckles that I bought earlier this fall. They make everything look good. Worst? A pair of Dansko shoes. They're such a kind respite after a day in heels but so big and clunky, I feel like Frankenstein in them.
Who makes your favorite pair of jeans? Shoes? Dress or Suit?
I'm still trying to find the perfect jeans. For shoes, I wouldn't say no to pair of Alexandra Neels' suede fringed sandals for spring. I love dresses by Alberta Ferretti and Doo Ri.
If you had to describe your personal style in one word, what would it be?
Me.
If you could bring back any fashion trend, what would it be?
I'm rooting for long floaty slim skirts and dresses. I love a long lean silhouette.
