imon John Charles Le Bon was born in Hertfordshire, England on October 27th 1958. As a lad he learned to sing whilst in the church choir and though enjoying his time, he was more interested in acting. He soon started modeling and performing in plays and commercials. Once Le Bon returned to England from his Kibbutz, he enrolled in the University of Birmingham to study drama. In 1980, while still in college, Simon and friends spent many a night at the club Rum Runner. One such night, a girlfriend introduced him to the members of a band that frequently played at the club. Shortly after Simon found himself auditioning to join the group. As the tale has been told, Le Bon made quite the impression by showing up in a pair of pink leopard print pants and bringing along a book of his own poetry (poems, which would later become songs on the band’s first album). With an entrance like that, he was snatched up as the lead singer by members, Nick Rhodes (on keyboards), John Taylor (on bass guitar), Andy Taylor (on lead guitar) and Roger Taylor (on drums) to form the band we all know as Duran Duran. Le Bon then quit school, helped the group write songs and started performing in clubs throughout Birmingham. Just a year getting together, Duran Duran made it onto the British charts with the single “Planet Earth” in 1981 and a year later their self-titled album released, and fame was unleased. Le Bon’s fans became so devoted and the band reached Beatles level of crazy, even being dubbed the “Fab Five”.

Then, one fateful day, in 1984, Simon Le Bon was casually looking through a magazine. He came upon a model he decided right then and there he just had to meet. What is a pop icon to do? Well, with his connections, he was able to get in touch with the models agency and finagle her phone number; but really who would say no to The Simon Le Bon? Turns out the model was Yasmin Parvaneh and she apparently found the gesture charming since they married the next year and have been together ever since. After a few years, Le Bon and the others started to feel the pressure of celebrity and by 1985 each man began working on side projects. Le Bon, with Nick Rhodes and Roger Taylor formed Arcadia, which released the album “So Red the Rose”. Soon, the group splintered with Roger and Andy officially leaving. The others remained together and released albums, alas with a little less success than before.

In 1991, Simon Le Bon, composer Nick Wood and Naoko Hyuga started Syn Studios, one of the first international music production companies. Le Bon and Woods conceived of the idea three years earlier, and once they met Hyuga, their baby was born. They have since produced music for films, commercials and corporate branding and have expnded to include an entertainment and creative division, a music publishing company and a record label. Throughout the years though, Le Bon continued to make music with Duran Duran. Simon kept branching out and in 1996 he performed with the renowned opera singer Luciano Pavarotti and joined Dolores O’Riordan, from the Irish band The Cranberries, on stage to sing their major hit “Linger”. A year later he took on a new type of musical challenge and wrote the score for Mario Van Peebles film “Love Kills”.

In 2001, Simon and the other members of Duran Duran reunited and after receiving praise for their new work, started touring. They sold out throughout Great Britain and made their way to the states for a series of concerts on Broadway. At this point, Le Bon and the band began collaborations with some of the music industry’s biggest stars like Justin Timberlake and celebrated producer Timbaland. In 2012 Duran Duran performed at the Olympic Opening Ceremony concert and in June of 2013, Le Bon performed with Timbaland at the Chime for Change concert at Twickenham Stadium in London, England.
