EMERGING DESIGNER

Charday Fields

Charday Fields on Fashion

What has been your biggest fashion faux-pas?
I try my HARDEST to stay away from wearing brown and black together. I was always taught it doesn't match and I always tell people it doesn't match, but for some reason I have this strange feeling that I have done it at least once. Maybe not on purpose, but nonetheless, it's still wrong!
If you could only shop at one store, which would it be?
Probably Jo-Ann’s. I really don't shop for clothes that much. I still have t-shirts from when I was in 8th and 9th grade. I don't like to throw things out. At least with Jo-Ann’s, if I had to, I could buy fabric to make my own clothes if it came down to it. I just love that store. It's hard for me to leave without buying anything.
If you could change one thing about your closet, what would it be?
I'm probably being very cliche with this answer, but obviously make it bigger with better storage and more clothes.
Survival of the fittest: What is one item in your closet that you will never get rid of?
Leggings. Leggings are just so comfortable if you get the right kind. I always get excited when I get a chance to wear them.
If you were given the opportunity to have a famous designer revamp your entire wardrobe, who would you choose?
I honestly can't answer that question. Although I aspire to be a fashion designer, I can honestly say I don't really follow any designers much. The only time I really had to pay attention to designers was in school, but I didn't follow any one specifically. I get inspired by garments I like, not by any one certain designer. So with that said, I would just say any designer that could keep my wardrobe interesting.
Name an actor/singer/celebrity whose wardrobe you admire the most.
Gwen Stefani. Hands down. She has always been the person I get inspired by most. I have come up with ideas for garments just for her and I have actually created some garments inspired by one of her music videos. I love her and hopefully one day I can create something she would wear.
What are your best and worst fashion purchases?
My best fashion purchases I suppose would be my shoes collection. I love my shoes. I don't ever wear them, but I love just looking at them. I buy them when they are on super sale. Sometimes I can pull off getting them for maybe $3. I'm a bargain hunter. Hopefully one day I'll have more opportunities to wear them. Until then, I'll just sit back and admire them. My worst fashion purchase would be most of the items I used to buy from Abercrombie & Fitch. When I was in high school, I would buy a few A&F shirts just to feel "cool". They were too tight because of course, even their larger sizes are small, and I was always a bigger girl. So I look back on pictures like that and think, "What was I thinking?"
Who makes your favorite pair of jeans? Shoes? Dress or Suit?
I believe my favorite pair of jeans are made by Vanity Fair. I bought them off a designer who I modeled for a little while back for $5. We wore them for her show and I fell in love with them. My favorite shoes? I have no idea. I love my Charlotte Russe shoe collection as well as my sandals I bought at the "All Shoes $8.88" Store. It's a shame I barely get to wear them. My favorite dress would have to be my chocolate brown party dress. I don't own a lot of dresses, excpet formal ones, so I guess that one would take the cake. I don't remember who makes it. I bought it at a department store.
If you had to describe your personal style in one word, what would it be?
Eclectic
If you could bring back any fashion trend, what would it be?
Anything seen in a pin-up girl spread. Basically any fashion trend from the 1930's-mid 1960's minus the beehive and Mod clothing.
If we could take a peek into your personal closet, what would we find?
A lot of shoes and not enough clothes.
